We study Humanities to understand societies, cultures, and the forces that shape human behaviour.
The Humanities Department at Lucknow Public School blends multiple disciplines—History, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, and Cultural Studies—to help students explore the human experience from diverse perspectives. Classrooms are equipped with interactive smart boards, multimedia archives, political maps, survey tools, and access to academic journals, documentaries, and e-learning resources. This infrastructure supports inquiry-based projects and interdisciplinary learning, making Humanities both relevant and engaging.
Our curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking and empathy. In the Lower School, students begin by learning about communities, civic responsibility, and cultural traditions. Years 7 and 8 provide deeper insight into governance systems, social structures, historical events, and human rights. By Year 9 and above, learners engage with advanced topics such as global politics, economic systems, psychological theories, ethics, and contemporary social challenges—preparing them for CBSE board exams and higher education in a range of disciplines.
Learning goes beyond textbooks. Students conduct field surveys, participate in policy simulations, interview local community members, and work on cultural documentation projects. We organise visits to heritage sites, museums, parliament sessions, and NGOs, enabling students to connect academic concepts to real-life societal contexts.
Co-curricular opportunities are abundant. The Humanities Club hosts cultural festivals, public policy debates, model United Nations conferences, psychology workshops, and thematic exhibitions. Students take part in essay competitions, heritage quiz contests, and panel discussions with professionals from law, social work, journalism, and academia.
Student work is showcased through corridor exhibitions of essays, visual timelines, thematic posters, infographics, and multimedia presentations. Displays often highlight historical research, constitutional studies, and social awareness campaigns created by students.
Through Humanities, LPS encourages open-mindedness, analytical skills, and ethical decision-making. Students graduate with a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, social justice, and their role in contributing positively to the world—qualities that shape them into informed, compassionate, and responsible citizens.
