We bring Political Science to life through dynamic lessons, research-driven learning, and active discussions on global and national political systems.
Our Political Science department is equipped with modern teaching resources designed to make the subject engaging and thought-provoking. These include interactive smart boards, political maps, case studies, news archives, and access to academic journals. Students explore political theories, governance structures, public policies, and international relations, while examining the key political events and movements that have shaped the modern world.
At LPS, we believe in making Political Science both relevant and inspiring. In the Lower School, pupils develop a basic understanding of the concept of governance, the role of government, and the basics of civic duties.
In Years 7 and 8, they focus on studying the political systems of different countries, learning about the structure of democracy, human rights, and global organizations. By Year 9, they engage in deeper analysis of political ideologies, the functioning of political parties, electoral systems, and international diplomacy—while strengthening their research, debate, and critical thinking skills.
To connect theory with practice, we organize visits to government institutions, participate in model UN debates, and host guest lectures by political analysts and leaders. Pupils analyze political speeches, conduct surveys, participate in election simulations, and work on policy-making projects. They also compete in inter-house political debates, national political science quizzes, and essay writing contests.
Our “Political Scholars” club hosts discussions on current political events, debates on political ideologies, and simulations of real-world governance scenarios. Corridor displays, project boards, and classroom exhibitions feature student-created political manifestos, research papers, policy analysis, and multimedia presentations, showcasing their ongoing work and accomplishments. We aim to nurture informed, thoughtful citizens who understand the complexities of politics and are prepared to actively participate in democratic processes.
