We bring History to life through engaging lessons, research-based learning, and active exploration of the past.
Our History department is equipped with modern teaching resources that make the subject immersive and thought-provoking. These include interactive smart boards, historical maps, timelines, archival photographs, museum-quality replicas, digital archives, and access to academic journals. Students explore eras from ancient civilizations to the modern world, covering themes such as cultural heritage, political revolutions, economic change, conflicts, world wars, and the evolution of societies.
At LPS, we believe in making History both relevant and inspiring. In the Lower School, pupils develop a basic chronological understanding of Indian and world history, exploring key personalities, events, and traditions.
In Years 7 and 8, they focus on medieval and early modern periods, learning about empires, cultural exchanges, trade routes, and socio-political systems. By Year 9, they engage in deeper analysis of modern history, covering nationalism, independence movements, global conflicts, and social reforms—while honing research, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
To connect the past with the present, we organize museum visits, heritage walks, battlefield site tours, and historical re-enactments. Pupils conduct oral history projects, study primary sources, analyse historical artefacts, and work on theme-based exhibitions. They also participate in inter-house history quizzes, national history Olympiads, debate competitions, and model-making contests.
Our “History Circle” club hosts sessions on archival research, debates on historical interpretations, and film screenings on key events. Corridor displays, project boards, and classroom exhibitions feature student-created timelines, analytical essays, illustrated biographies, and multimedia presentations, reflecting their ongoing work and achievements. We aim to nurture informed, thoughtful individuals who appreciate the lessons of the past and understand their impact on the present and future.
