Learning About the World Through History, Geography, and Culture

At Lucknow Public School, Social Studies is designed to help students explore the world around them and understand the relationships between people, places, cultures, and historical events. Through engaging lessons and hands-on activities, learners develop curiosity, empathy, and an appreciation for the rich diversity of human experiences.

The department offers a variety of interactive resources, including maps, globes, cultural artefacts, videos, visual aids, and age-appropriate books that make learning both enjoyable and meaningful.

Grade 1 students begin by learning about their families, schools, communities, and the people who help make society function. These lessons build a sense of belonging and social awareness.

In Grade 2, learners explore countries, continents, landmarks, and cultural traditions from around the world, developing an early understanding of geography and global diversity.

Grade 3 students study historical personalities, important events, and timelines that help them understand the concept of time and historical change.

By Grades 4 and 5, students investigate ancient civilizations, world history, geographical regions, famous landmarks, and cultural heritage while strengthening analytical and communication skills.

Field trips to museums, historical sites, cultural festivals, and local landmarks provide students with opportunities to experience Social Studies beyond the classroom.

Creative projects, storytelling activities, role-plays, map-making exercises, and collaborative investigations help students connect knowledge with real-world experiences.

The Explorer’s Club hosts geography challenges, cultural exchange programmes, world trivia events, and community service projects that inspire curiosity and global awareness.

Students also participate in quizzes, exhibitions, and creative competitions that encourage confidence and teamwork.

Student-created maps, cultural displays, historical timelines, presentations, and research projects are showcased through exhibitions and classroom displays that highlight curiosity, creativity, and academic growth.

Through Social Studies, Lucknow Public School encourages students to appreciate cultural diversity, understand historical connections, and become informed, compassionate members of a global community.
