Discovering Cultures, Communities, and Our Shared World
At Lucknow Public School, Social Studies encourages students to explore the fascinating world of people, places, cultures, and history. Through interactive learning experiences, creative projects, and meaningful discussions, students are discovering our shared history, cultures, and communities while developing an understanding of how societies function and how individuals contribute to them.
Our classrooms are enriched with maps, globes, cultural artefacts, visual resources, multimedia content, and engaging reading materials that make learning about the world both exciting and accessible.
Grade 1 students learn about their immediate surroundings, including families, schools, neighbourhoods, and community helpers. These lessons help them understand cooperation and social responsibility.
In Grade 2, students begin exploring the wider world through the study of continents, countries, landforms, and cultural traditions. They learn to appreciate the diversity of people and places across the globe.
Grade 3 introduces learners to historical figures, important events, and timelines that help them understand how the past influences the present.
In Grades 4 and 5, students delve deeper into ancient civilizations, world geography, famous landmarks, and major historical developments while developing research, empathy, and critical-thinking skills.
Students participate in museum visits, heritage walks, cultural celebrations, and community-based activities that make Social Studies more meaningful and memorable.
Group projects, storytelling sessions, history role-plays, and map-based activities encourage collaboration and active participation.
The Explorer’s Club provides opportunities for students to engage in geography contests, cultural showcases, world trivia, and community service initiatives that broaden their perspectives and encourage curiosity.
These activities help students build confidence while learning about different cultures and communities.
Student-created maps, cultural exhibits, timelines, presentations, and project boards are regularly displayed throughout the school, celebrating learning and creativity.
Through Social Studies, Lucknow Public School helps students develop respect for diversity, an understanding of global connections, and a strong sense of responsible citizenship.
