We explore Biology as the science of life and living systems.

The Biology Department at Lucknow Public School nurtures curiosity about living organisms, ecosystems, and the natural processes that sustain life. Our well-equipped laboratories feature compound microscopes, specimen collections, anatomical models, biotechnology kits, and digital simulation tools. These resources enable hands-on learning of topics ranging from cellular biology to ecology and genetics. Students also have access to biological journals, interactive software, and reference books to support research and in-depth study.

Our curriculum follows a progressive structure. In the Lower School, learners study basic anatomy and physiology of plants and animals, along with simple ecological concepts. In Years 7 and 8, students explore cellular structures, reproduction, nutrition, and the environment, deepening their understanding through experiments and observation. By Year 9 and above, the focus broadens to molecular biology, genetics, evolution, bioethics, and environmental science, integrating theoretical concepts with practical investigations to prepare students for board examinations and scientific careers.

To bring biology to life, students engage in lab dissections, microscopy studies, ecological surveys, and fieldwork at local natural habitats. They investigate biodiversity, conduct plant and animal classification, and experiment with biotechnology techniques including paper chromatography and rate of respiration tests. Educational visits to botanical gardens, research institutes, and environmental centres further enhance experiential learning.

Co-curricular activities complement academic work with nature camps, biology quizzes, awareness drives on sustainable living, and thematic workshops. The Biology Club encourages biodiversity mapping, conservation projects, and participation in science fairs at local and national levels.

Student work is prominently displayed in corridors and laboratories—featuring anatomical charts, research posters, eco-models, and biological data collected during surveys. These exhibits celebrate student achievement and inspire peer learning.

Through Biology, LPS instils critical observation, analytical thinking, and environmental responsibility. Our goal is to empower students as informed citizens and future scientists who appreciate the intricate balance of life and contribute actively to preserving our planet’s health.
