We celebrate Hindi as a language of heritage, expression, and modern relevance.

The Hindi Department at LPS combines traditional learning with interactive approaches to make India’s national language vibrant and accessible for all students. Equipped with smart boards, audio-visual language tools, a rich library of classical and modern works, dictionaries, grammar reference guides, and access to Hindi periodicals, the department encourages appreciation for literary treasures alongside functional communication skills. Audio recitations, dramatizations, and visual aids help connect students to the beauty and depth of the language.

In the Lower School, students develop a strong grasp of the Devanagari script, improve handwriting, and master foundational grammar. Years 7 and 8 expand into reading short stories, poems, and essays from renowned authors, encouraging students to express their own ideas through creative writing. By Year 9, they critically study literary movements, analyse prose and poetry in historical and cultural contexts, and practice formal writing styles for speeches, articles, and reports.

Applied learning forms a core part of the department’s approach. Dramatic enactments of famous plays, poetry recitation sessions, and storytelling enhance confidence and pronunciation. Students undertake research-based projects on literary figures, regional dialects, and the evolution of Hindi in modern media.

Co-curricular highlights include essay competitions, slogan writing contests, kavi sammelans, and theatre productions. The Hindi Sahitya Sabha organises Hindi Diwas celebrations, folk theatre workshops, and interactive sessions with guest poets and authors.

Corridors and classroom boards display student poems, calligraphy work, creative posters, and translations, making the language a daily visual presence. Digital presentations and audio recordings of student performances are also showcased on school platforms.

Through Hindi, LPS nurtures cultural awareness, clarity of thought, and emotional expression. Students leave with not only academic mastery but also a deep appreciation of their linguistic roots and the role of language in preserving identity.
