Connecting Language, Heritage, and Intellectual Growth

At Lucknow Public School, Jankipuram, the Sanskrit Department aims to revive interest in Sanskrit by making it engaging, accessible, and meaningful for students. We emphasize Sanskrit as a foundation of Indian knowledge systems, literature, and cultural identity. Through structured learning and interactive teaching methods, connecting tradition with growth, students develop linguistic strength, cognitive ability, and cultural awareness.

Our classrooms are supported with smart boards, pronunciation audio tools, digital grammar references, e-libraries, and classical text collections. Students explore foundational scriptures, epics, poetry, and moral literature, along with structured language resources that support understanding and fluency. Regular chanting sessions help improve pronunciation and rhythmic accuracy.

In the foundational years, students learn the Devanagari script, basic vocabulary, grammar rules, and simple sentence construction. Shloka recitation is an integral part of learning, helping students develop memory and focus.

As they move forward, students begin reading short Sanskrit texts, moral stories, and simplified classical literature. Translation exercises and guided composition activities help them build confidence in language usage.

At advanced levels, students study complex grammar, literary interpretation, philosophical texts, and creative Sanskrit writing. This stage encourages analytical thinking and prepares learners for academic success in higher studies.

Students engage in dramatization of Sanskrit plays, storytelling, translation tasks, and creative writing exercises. These activities make language learning interactive and help students develop confidence in expression.

Research projects explore Sanskrit’s influence on modern languages, ancient scientific thought, and the preservation of classical manuscripts. These activities promote interdisciplinary understanding and intellectual curiosity.

The department organizes recitation competitions, Sanskrit debates, drama performances, and cultural events. The Sanskrit Sabha hosts Sanskrit Diwas celebrations, expert talks, and interactive storytelling sessions that bring mythology and literature to life.

Student work is displayed through calligraphy, manuscript recreations, translated verses, and illustrated stories from epics. Audio recordings of recitations are archived for learning reinforcement and appreciation.

Through a balanced approach of tradition and innovation, the Sanskrit Department at LPS Jankipuram helps students build respect for heritage while developing strong language and thinking skills.
