At Lucknow Public School, Sector I, the Sanskrit Department nurtures a deep appreciation for one of the world’s oldest and most structured languages. Sanskrit is taught as a medium of intellectual development, cultural connection, and linguistic precision. Our goal is to help students experience the richness of Sanskrit literature while preserving its timeless wisdom and building strong analytical and memory skills through systematic learning.

Our classrooms are equipped with smart boards, audio-supported pronunciation tools, digital Sanskrit dictionaries, e-text libraries, and curated collections of classical literature. Students study foundational texts such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and selected classical Sanskrit poetry. Regular chanting sessions and guided pronunciation practice help learners develop fluency, rhythm, and clarity in expression.

In the early stages, students focus on learning the Devanagari script, basic vocabulary, sentence formation, and simple grammar structures. Shloka recitation and repetition exercises strengthen concentration and memory retention.

At the middle level, students progress to reading short stories, moral verses, and simplified classical texts. Translation exercises and basic composition activities help bridge Sanskrit with modern languages, improving comprehension and communication skills.

At the senior level, students engage with advanced grammar, literary interpretation, philosophical writings, and original Sanskrit composition. This stage encourages deeper analytical thinking and prepares students for academic examinations and higher studies in language and literature.

Sanskrit at LPS Sector I is actively taught through experiential learning methods. Students participate in dramatizations of Sanskrit plays, shloka recitation events, translation exercises, and creative writing tasks that enhance both confidence and understanding.

Research-based assignments explore themes such as ancient Indian knowledge systems, linguistic evolution, and the relevance of Sanskrit in modern language structures. These activities help students connect classical learning with contemporary thought.

The Sanskrit Department organizes recitation competitions, debate sessions in Sanskrit, cultural performances, and storytelling events. The Sanskrit Sabha hosts celebrations such as Sanskrit Diwas, guest lectures, and interactive workshops led by scholars and experts.

Student contributions are showcased through calligraphy, manuscript-style artwork, translated literature, and illustrated epics. Digital recordings of recitations are preserved to support revision and appreciation of language learning.
